florida edgenius initiative

The Florida EdGenius Initiative recognizes and elevates creative, effective, and evidence-based teaching happening across the state. This program shines a spotlight on educators who are transforming classrooms through bold ideas, research-aligned methods, and real-world learning experiences.

By identifying “EdGeniuses” — teachers who demonstrate measurable success through innovation — this initiative builds a network of thought leaders who can inspire and guide others toward more dynamic, student-centered education.

Why it matters.

Every year, countless educators design breakthrough lessons and programs — but too often, those innovations stay within a single classroom. The Florida EdGenius Initiative changes that by creating a statewide platform for discovery, recognition, and replication.

By identifying and investing in outstanding educators, we can:

  • Spread proven teaching models faster

  • Build a professional culture of innovation

  • Improve student engagement and outcomes

  • Attract and retain top teaching talent

key features.

  • Statewide Recognition Program — Celebrates teachers who use innovative, high-impact instructional practices.

  • EdGenius Fellowship — Provides honorees with support, professional development, and networking opportunities.

  • Innovation Repository — A digital library of EdGenius lesson plans, classroom models, and implementation guides.

  • Mentorship & Training — Fellows mentor peers, helping replicate success across districts.

  • Research & Evaluation — Each selected program includes outcomes data to ensure results are measurable and replicable.

How it works.

  1. Nominate & Apply — Districts, schools, and peers nominate educators who demonstrate exceptional innovation.

  2. Review & Selection — A review panel evaluates submissions using a research-based rubric.

  3. Recognize & Reward — Selected EdGeniuses receive statewide recognition, resources, and support.

  4. Share & Scale — Fellows publish their models in the Innovation Repository and mentor others to adopt them.
